WHIPWORM (TRICHURIASIS)

Disease caused by a nematode whipworm. This helminth is ranked third in frequency distribution.
Whipworm refers to geogelmintam and does not require an intermediate host. It infests the human large intestine, often in the cecum. Body length of female whipworm reaches 5.5 cm, male 4-5 cm.

Sources of infection trichuriasis (whipworm) eggs of these helminths are carried by flies and dust.
