THE SYMPTOMS OF DIABETES

In some cases, diabetes is the time makes itself felt. Symptoms of diabetes vary in diabetes mellitus I and II. Sometimes, there may not be generally no symptoms, and diabetes control, for example, referring to the optometrist when viewed from the fundus. But there is a set of symptoms characteristic of diabetes mellitus of both types.

Severity of symptoms depends on the degree of reduction of insulin secretion, duration of disease and individual patient:

  • frequent urination and a feeling of unquenchable thirst, leading to dehydration;
  • rapid weight loss, often in spite of constant hunger;
  • feeling of weakness or fatigue;
  • blurred vision ("white sheet" before the eyes);
  • difficulty with sexual activity;
  • numbness and tingling in the limbs numbed;
  • a feeling of heaviness in the legs;
  • dizziness;
  • slow cures of infectious diseases;
  • slow healing of wounds;
  • drop in body temperature below the average mark;
  • fatigue;
  • leg cramps.

In order to establish the diagnosis of diabetes, it is necessary to define two measures:

  • The level of blood sugar;
  • The level of sugar in the urine.

A blood sugar level:

 Fasting
Normal: 120 mg% (6.6 mmol / L)
Excess: greater than 120 mg%

After a meal
Normal: 140 mg% (7.7 mmol / l)
Excess: 160-180 mg% more

Increasing fasting blood sugar over 120 mg% shows the development of diabetes mellitus. Normally, the sugar in the urine is not determined, since the renal filter retains all the glucose. And when the blood sugar level more than 160-180 mg% (8,8-9,9 mmol / l) renal filter starts to pass the sugar in the urine. Therefore, the urine output is more or less significant amount of glucose. Its presence in urine can be detected using special test strips. The minimum level of sugar in the blood, where it begins to be detected in urine, called the "renal threshold".

Since the figures presented by various authors and medical institutions are treated differently, in order to obtain accurate results, we recommend conducting the following test:

1. Determine the level of fasting blood sugar.

 2. '75 Drink grape sugar, dissolved in 300 ml of boiled water.

 3. After 60 minutes to determine blood sugar levels.

 4. After 120 minutes to determine blood sugar levels.

The test is negative, ie, not confirming the diagnosis of diabetes if the fasting blood sugar levels - below 120 mg% and in blood taken after 120 minutes - less than 140%.

If the first measurement of sugar level above 120 mg%, and the measurement of 2 hours is higher than 200 mg (11.1 mmol / l), this result confirms the presence of diabetes mellitus.
